Disable beep when switching power sources on Acer laptop

On my Acer Aspire One 722, I get a beep every time I plug in or unplug my AC adaptor.

I am running Linux Mint 13, which uses PulseAudio. In alsamixer, I see a "Beep" setting next to PCM, Master, and such. If I manually set the volume to 0 in alsamixer, the beep goes away entirely.

However, the next time I try to adjust the volume using PulseAudio software (including the multimedia keys), the beep comes back.

How can I permanently disable the beep, either through PulseAudio's configuration or through ALSA's?

Thank you for any help.

Maybe you can remove 'pcspkr' module :

Code:
bash# rmmod pcspkr
And disabling it permanently (for next reboot) by blacklisting it. With debian you can do it by adding the following line into '
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf'

Code:
bash$ cat /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
# NO beeep
blacklist pcspkr

Nope, no difference. I'm pretty sure it's some sort of hardware thing -- it happens in any OS as well as in the BIOS.

Alsamixer allows me to turn its volume down, and this sticks -- without changing the "Beep" volume, it is quite loud. However, it'd be nice to be able to get rid of the beep entirely.
