Help me please.

I am attempting install Linux Slackware 12.1 in my laptop (Dell Vostro 1310), but have many problems with video driver (sometimes work the mouse and keyboard, but sometimes not work these) and sound (alsamixer not working), I attempt to work with menuconfig, but I am new with linux, and I think that I damage this file.

Where do I can get information how to installing this Distro?
howto I can configure my laptop?
Which are step for install this distro of linux in my laptop?.

I succesfully installed Slackware 12.2 (last version) on my Dell Vostro 1000, and had it previously running 12.1 without an issue.

For alsamixer to work, if you are getting the same error as I was getting (error while starting kde sound system after login) the solution is to start the kuser program (as root) and add your un-privileged user to the 'sound' group.
