Dell Studio 1558 Screen Brightness Driver in Kernel

I'm having trouble finding the diver in the kernel that will allow me to adjust the screen brightness on my Dell Laptop 1558. Does anyone know what it is called?

Hello,

What distro are you using? I'm running Fedora 13 on my Studio 1537, and the brightness worked out of the box for me. Are you having actual issues, or are you just trying to find where it would be located? Do the following to see if you have this file or not:
Code:

cat /proc/acpi/video/VGA/lcd/brightness
If it says unsupported, then that's not the right file. I need your input though of what distro you use so I can track the file down for you.

Cheers,

Josh

Had the same problem. Here is what you are looking for:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ux/+bug/568611

Just go there and add the PPA to your sources.
The PPA only works with the latest Ubuntu distribution.
Look in the comments of the bug, maybe you find the solution even if you do not have Ubuntu.
Cheers.
