Dell Latitude C600 w/ ATI Rage 128 Mobility

I have a Dell C600 Latitude laptop that has ATI Rage 128 Mobility built in. I want to tweak the ATI to the max. Can some tell me all the specs info all I must do to tweak the ATI Rage 128 Mobility?

My system is an IBM ThinkPad A21p, running Slackware 10.2. Slackware sets up X using a generic Vesa driver, and I'd like to tweak it out to 1280 x 1024, 24bbp...
I've looked at SNAP Graphics, but that driver just throws my laptop's TFT fits. I can't seem to get this bugger figured out correctly.
