Dell Inspiron Heat dissipation Problem!!!!!!!!
 

Hi,

I have a dell inspiron N5010 laptop. Its great with performance and almost everything . But when it comes to the heat it dissipates.I am getting worried when i boot it it starts with ~57C but when i start using music player and firefox within 30 min it reaches up 80C and the keyboard panel gets hot and when i see a movie sometimes the temp reaches upto 90c and shutsdown.
I know there is no software solution as it is laptop. we cant control the fan inside.Tried out a cooling pad (not a good one ) But it doesn't seem to work properly.

Once I removed my hard disk for replacing it with another one so i thought maybe i would have disturbed the fittings


So hope i have a solution for this.

Most likely a problem with one of the fans that are not working as they should be or the suction vents being blocked. Take a vacuum cleaner and then try cleaning the vents to see what happens.

I had a similar problem with my Macbook Pro running Ubuntu. The first solution I tried was to write a Bash script that could control the fan speeds (Yes those can be controlled, at least on my computer. Look for text files in /etc/devices/platform or subfolders; in my case they were '/sys/devices/platform/applesmc.768/fan1_manual' and '/sys/devices/platform/applesmc.768/fan1_output'). A better solution, for me, was to switch to a less processor intensive desktop environment. I switched from GNOME to LXDE; LXDE runs much cooler.

I just followed h physical solution of deassembling and cleaning up. it worked for some extent.But the problem still persisted and my friends said GNOME squeezes out the cpu so I swittched to KDE for now and also changed my cooling pad originally i used a local made not so good one now i am using the BELKIN cooling pad which is effectively maintaining my cpu temp at 61C at an avg.
