Dell Inspiron 9100 wireless

Hello,

Can anyone recommend a “newbie” friendly distro of linux that will support the broadcom wireless and hyper threading on a Dell Inspiron 9100 out of the box?

I tried for two weeks to get wireless to work in Ubuntu 5.04 with (and without) the i686 SMP Kernel installed.

Well, the next version of Ubuntu is scheduled to be released next week. Perhaps the latest version would solve some of your problems.

My room mate has a Dell Inspiron 9100, and in Ubuntu we used ndiswrapper to get the wireless to work. You can download the required drivers from the web.

Also read everything in this site:

Do post back if you could get it to work

Not sure about the hyperthreading, but the broadcom wireless in my Dell D800 Latitude worked right out of the box with SuSE 9.2 and 9.3.
