Dell Inspiron 8100 shutdown issues

Hi everyone,

I've just installed Suse Linux 9.1 on my laptop. Dell Inspiron 8100. I used to run Mandrake before this, and there was no problem. However, now when I try to shutdown using any of these commands:

init 0 OR
shutdown -h now

I get the following error messages:

Module ds is in use... failed
Module pcmcia_core is in use... failed

Failed Services in run level 0
stty: standard input unable to perform all requested operations

Can someone help me understand what to do to fix this issue? I have a PCMCIA card which is needed to connect to a network card, and so I do need the use of that.

Otherwise, the distro works fine... except the scroll mouse, which I still have to configure. However, help on this would be appreciated!

Cheers.

Jacob

On Fedora I using the "poweroff" command to shutdown the computer, and the "reboot" commmand to reboot it ( as a plain old user ). I don't know if Suse supports that, but you may want to give it a try. Good luck.
