Dell Inspiron 2600 problem
I was trying to install Fedora Core 4 in my Dell laptop and the installation program Anaconda sent me the following message:
"X11TranSocket INETConnect() can't get address for localhost:6001 name or service not known (mini-wm:578): Gtk-WARNING cannot open display: :1" and the installation could not go on. What should I do? Thanks |
What kind of hardware does your laptop have?
i.e. Video card, amount of ram, speed of processor, etc. |
Dell components
I found out the specifications of my laptop (Dell 2600)

It sounds Fedora isnt compatiable with one peice or another of your hardware. I tried Fedora Core 4 my first time with linux and i had alot of trouble out of it too. Try another distro, you might not get any errors with say Slack or Ubuntu. Goodluck.
Sorry i can't help more, i'm not that inclined toward linux yet myself, but that did work for me. |
