Hey there, I am quite new to Linux in general. I'm (of course) starting out with ubuntu. Now I will start with the interesting part, I have recently re-installed Ubuntu 8.10 (for fresh start purposes lol) now my first install of Ubuntu 8.10 I had absolutely no wireless connectivity/speed problems so I assumed that there would be no issue when I re-install. We'll assuming never really got me anywhere and same goes for this situation. As you can now see my wireless connection is VERY slow in Ubuntu (under 1Kb/s) and will randomly disconnect itself to the point where I need to reboot for it to re-connect. I have browsed hundreds of forums, the only viable thing I could do is disable ipv6 via
Change the line is /etc/modprobe.d/aliases from:
alias net-pf-10 ipv6
to
alias net-pf-10 off
(which didn't help at all)
There was other suggestions although most of it was "assume you are a super expert in linux and me spitting this code at you will suffice". Unfortunately for me that is not the situation, as I will need a little more of an explanation.
I'm at work and cannot provide sufficient details on my laptop (nor do i know how to access those details via ubuntu =\). What I can provide is a link to Dell on my exact computer, I hope this will be sufficient for you guys to dissect this issue, if not I understand and if you could provide me some techniques on finding the correct information that you need to help me out, I will gladly get them for you as soon as I get home. Thank you
