im a noob to but in response to your problem with the resolution you'll probably just have to use a smaller rez. when you first configure your monitor im assuming you had to choose a monitor type and rez. the rez you chose will be the highest res you can set without loosing any screen. (ex. dell laptop monitor 1600X1200) 1600X1200 will be the largest you can set. not sure if this is helpful at all and im sure there is a way to fix it but i havn't figured it out yet. good luck
