I posted a thread in the Ubuntu Forum (http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi....php?t=533469), however, I am wondering if this is a better forum for this topic. I have spent several days trying to get at least 1280x1024 on my laptop, or at least externally on my Dell 1905 LCD. I have ran 915resolution, modified the xorg.conf file, ran reconfig x-server, change the default/915resolution file, etc, etc...
I hoping maybe a new fresh set of eyes may point me in the right direction. I have googled as many articles as I could find, and still can not see what the issue is. I tried of this fuzzy 1024X768 resolution.
Integrated video may not be capable of desired resolution on an external Dell monitor
Sam, As members have been trying to explain to you for about 2 weeks your Integrated video may not be capable of your desired resolution. Which Video drivers; nVid, or ATI did you load?
It does not appear that you have the Dedicated ATI card, just i915GM, not i915PM.

It probably is, as many replies thought you were referring to a Desktop.

btw, It might help to update your profile (Add Signature w/ Hardware details). I may be wrong about your laptop, as I am still new to using Linux (NO programming exp!) which you seem vary familiar with already, but do understand HW a bit.
Just a thought; Could you get desired resolution on Ext Monitor with any M$ Win OS? GL d8d
