kupojsin LQ Newbie Registered: Mar 2005 Location: new york Distribution: fedora core 3 Posts: 2 Rep:	crc error installing on old vaio pcg-505f trying to install on an old sony vaio pcg-505f using the pcmcia external cdrom been using various distros with no luck read up on it and know that i need to pass ide2=0x180,0x386 in the boot options but keep getting this error (hand copy) loading kernel ............................. loading rescue.gz...................... ready uncompressing linux... crc error -- system halted happened with FC 3 and gentoo already the other distros just hang so frustrating help! -jsin i wish there was a forum for just old laptop linux installs! i also have an ibm 701cs i want to run linux on
