anything else besides 'UNetbootin'
or....? ppl say ubnetbootin is bad any other possible or best solutions? |
Could potentially be the size of the usb stick as well, I have a laptop that won't boot any usb stick over 4GB in size. It doesn't find the device when I use the larger ones but works just fine with the smaller ones.

The current version of Unebootin is brand new and very well regarded. Many Windows users use as well as Linux users.

someone say this works -- http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...7/#post5667604
what are teh steps to do this? i dont understand what they are talking about |
Quote:
Yes, like that thread pointed pointed out, use Unebootin and try different formats. |
According to this thread you can boot from the USB 2.0 port by pressing Fn+F12 at start-up and selecting USB HDD.
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-...rk/td-p/968597 rufus is another windows tool that can create a bootable flash drive from an ISO file. http://rufus.akeo.ie/ |
Yes, if Unebootin does not work Rufus might work. michaelk has a very good point about the USB 2.0 port.
|
it seems like i didn't make it clear in the OP that none of the hotkeys work
there's no way to go into bios 'lenovo u310 (none of the reset / bios methods work)' |
is it 100% for sure that a external cd drive with a iso in it would auto-boot?
without changing bios or anything? |
Quote:
No, it is about a 50-50 chance. |
so is there no non-bios method to this problem at all?
the only thing left is the 'mokmanager' but nobody knows how to make it start on startup |

the computer did actually boot into Linux already! now, what you need to do:
if not, provide ALL information (commands issued, full output received). |
that was already done and that's the error
what does it mean and how to fix it? |
