controlling a laptop fan


hi,

does anyone knows how to control a fan in laptop via APM? My ThinkPad 560Z seems to be very hot when running few hours.

Wow, I use to run thinkpad 560's, I need to put them up on Ebay as mine are definitly getting on in years.

I to am looking for a way to control fan speeds and I haven't found much material on the subject although I really haven't spent much time. The thing related to this is the I2C monitoring drivers built into the kernel. I don't know if this stuff will allow the activationg of the fan or not.

As a thought, if the laptop isn't to old maybe it supports ACPI and not APM? You might want to do some reading and find out just what works on this laptop.
