console screen flashing
i have just installed debian and all, and i can load window manager just fine but when I exit back to the console the screen kinda flashes really quick, i can still use the console and all but it is very annoying and shouldn't be happening, it doesn't happen when i use the iwindow manager, i'm new to the linux, thanks

What version of Debian are you using and which login manager are you using. There was a bug with an older version of KDM that sounds similar to what you're experiencing. When you say the screen flashes, do you mean it's doesn't go back to the graphical login screen, but drops you back to the console instead? Also, what if you press Ctrl-Alt-Backspace to restart the X-server - do you get the login manager back?

thanks, but i realized i had my display had somehow gotten switched to CRT instead of LCD, i switched it back and that seemed to do the trick.
