configuration wireless device in laptop
 
Hi,


I had to installed fedora 8 in my laptop(Compaq Presario C700 model). can while i was execute 'lspci' command it was show.

01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5006EG 802.11 b/g Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01)


so that i guess wireless device drive was installed.
how i configure wireless device? Kindly any one help to me.

Showing up in 'lspci' just shows that the kernel knows the device exists and can identify it, it doesn't necessarily mean that it installed the drivers.

I have a hunch that you don't really have an AR5006EG card, my money is on it being an AR5007EG, which I don't believe is really supported out of the box until kernel 2.6.27.

Post the output of 'lspci -nn', that will tell for sure which card it is.

No, the driver is not installed - lsmod output would show whether proper module is loaded or not. Output of ifconfig -a would also help. After all, this one: http://snapshots.madwifi-project.org...-hal-0.10.5.6/ should work for your card.
