Compaq Presario V6000 V6101US and Linux

My laptop has WIN XP Media Center 2005. I installed Linux Mandravia Discovery. It boots up fine and when mandravia loads the monitor goes blank. I have no picture. The picture was there during the install but now gone. If I hook up an external monitor to the laptop that works. Please help. I have tried installing another version of linux Kubuntu and that wont work on either the laptop or external montior.

Any help would be great.

Thanks for the info, but I am a novice when it comes to Linux command line. I don't know what you mean.

In a terminal enter;

grep Driver /etc/X11/xorg.conf

and post the results here so we can see what driver you are using.
