Compaq Presario 1800 T suitable?

Hi, I'm a total newbie with Linux... Willing to try Linux but can only install it on my old Compaq laptop. Its an 800MHz PIII with 128MB RAM and a 20GB harddisk. I also use a Draytek wireless PCMCIA card. Will this be compatible?

Basically, I'd like a distro that is easy to use and less likely to mess up through my mistakes I am using Win Me at the moment and would be delighted to move away from it if Linux can offer me all the functions I would need on the laptop (i.e. wordprocessing and spreadsheets, wireless and/or modem internet access, good security etc) no need for gaming and such. Dont mind paying for SUSE pro if worth it, but obviously free would be nice

Thanks for help!

you should check some compatibility lists to see if your pcmcia card is supported by linux

maybe it's a good idea to explore a bit how linux works without messing up your current windows installation, by booting linux of a live cd like knoppix or lindows live (you'll find many of these free for download on the internet)

have fun working with linux !
