Compaq EVO N800v Suse 10.2 ATI Driver

Being a newbie to Linux, I have installed Suse 10.2 onto my old Compaq EVO N800v.P4 1.7ghz 1 gig Ram & Running ATI Mobility 7500 Radeon video adapter. The problem I have is with the screen is badly distorted I have tried to install the ati driver but it appears to be for a 64 bit machine, unless they are the same driver. I have been all over ATI'S site trying to remedy this problem, so any help will be much appreciated.I am sure this has happened to others in the past.

I would start by using a new distro. If you want to use Suse, then go here to download ... http://en.opensuse.org/Welcome_to_openSUSE.org

Then search in their docs and forums for instructions on setting up the drviers. Ubuntu or kubuntu would be another easy distro to use with great support.
