compaq c310E Anyone?

Hi all, Just wondering what a good and easy to install distro would be for a compaq c310EA widscreen notebook.

The two latest ubuntu's won't install, the newest hangs, the older installs a bit, then screen completely messes up with no hope of comming back.

So any ideas for an easy distro to install on here? I only have one cd left and rubbish net so a one cd install would be grand. Also i would like a distro that is pretty up-to-date, i like to use lots of new things , but not so much that it is unstable.

Thanks so much!

sounds like you're going to need a text based install rather then a gui. As for your forum topic title compaq c310E Anyone? sure i'll take it off your hands =P.

If you want a newer release of a distrobution, try slackware 11.0 It's pretty new

Weird, Ubuntu 6.10 worked straight outof the box for me on the Compaq C310!

Have you tried both installing off the LiveCD and the Alternate Installation CD? Also, before you install, boot the CD and check for errors.

I will try the alternate install CD.

I will do a media test in a second, good idea!
