Arrow command line wifi for toshiba- fed8

im bumming out on wifi
cannot get the atheros 5007 to work.

did the yum update kernel
got a crazy few msgs. like this

Quote:
[root@localhost ~]# yum install kmod-madwifi
Existing lock /var/run/yum.pid: another copy is running as pid 22072.
Another app is currently holding the yum lock; waiting for it to exit..
heres mny net managers unhappy quote

also,
i yum updated the kernel.
i deleted the wlan0 and re-added it.
i did not reboot the pc, but eth0 works on/off on the click of the "activate/decativate" button.
i recently had to wipe the HD and reinstall fed8, multiple times, it wouldnt even install, i had to use mandrakes 7.1 disk tool to create linux partitionss too.

how close am i now ?

and here is wireless assistant seeing my accesspoint.
not connecting.

whats up.
will it see the access point if i disconnect the cat5 cable>?

one thing i do differently in vista is i can set the channel my WEP is on. whereas in fed8, there seems to be no-channel to choose...(less im missing it.)

1. isn't that network manager in my 1st screenshot (blue background) ?
2. whats up w/that mad-wifi msg i got ? (i copy/pasted it)
3. is my wireless card not on b/c with all the stuff i have, it looks like it is
4. why would eth0 fail...wtf ? but really i just want a solid wifi-

i will re-install fed8 when i have another 5 hours and want to stay home
i wish i could get it working...
how do you know the command line, and where can i learn it ?

That's a lot of random stuff!!!

Let's assume that you now have Fedora installed and running. The first thing we need to know is whether there is a driver installed for your wireless. Open a terminal, enter "su" to become root, and enter "ifconfig -a". You will see "lo" and maybe "eth0". Is there also something like "wlan0" or maybe "eth1"? If not, then you most likely need a driver. Start by searching in the package manager using your card name and model #. If that doesn't work, try searching here and on Google.
