Changing resolutions fast

I'm running RH9 on my laptop, but I run in a resolution that apparently is not viewable on my TV (because when I goto that resolution the image on the TV doubles and stuff.) So I have to goto 800x600 to get a good looking picture on the TV. Is there anyway to switch resolutions on the screen without restarting X? Thanks.

Yes There is ...
You must make shure that in your X11 configuration file the diffrent resolutions are configured..
Then:
Ctrl-Alt-+
or
Ctrl-Alt--

Great, it works! Thanks. Do you by chance know the correct resolution for a 20" flat tube TV? I can't seem to find the exact size I need for it.

I think it's a standard no matter what your screen size is ....
It might be 640x480 ... but I am not shure.

szaroubi is right, it's a standard, but one which depends on your country. I'm in the UK which uses PAL. PAL has a resolution of 768x576 in full overscan mode. NTSC is smaller. Just google whatever your system is expecting and the word resolution. Then you may have to fiddle to get around overscan issues. (Overscan is where the borders of the picture are outside the displayable area.

Steve
