change pci.ids file? feisty

hello,
under both dapper and edgy, my wireless card worked great (broadcom 4319); both distros identified it as a 4318, which was close enough to work with bcm43xx-fwcutter and wl_apsta.o

feisty, however, shows it as a 4311, and the wireless is not as stable or as fast as before.

is it possible to replace the feisty pci file with the one from dapper?

thanks,
-steve

ps my laptop is a lenovo 3000 c100

AFAIK pci.ids is neither architecture dependent nor any package dependency dependent its a simple text file. So replacing it will not affect provided changes lost for devices entries will not be detected by their name.
