The usual method of listening to audio CDs on a computer requires you to have a cable that goes from the drive to the soundcard. Since the Extigy is an external soundcard, this ain't gonna happen, so you need to find another way... and it just so happens that there is another way!
If you want to use XMMS to play your CDs, then you can get a plugin that allows you to digitally extract the audio data and play it through the default audio-out device.... have a look around on xmms.org for input plugins.
