CD installation problem HP Pavilion zv5000 & Mandrake 10

Hi, I have a Hp Pavilion zv5000 laptop, I have tried to install Mandrake Linux 9.0 (cooker). I have an empty unpartitioned space in my drive, I reboot my computer with the CD and it boots allright, then when the installation starts (just moments after "detecting USB devices" message begin, the installer tells me it can not detect any cdrom?? how can this be?? it asks for a driver,
My computer specs are:
HP Pavilion zv5000
Pentium 4 M 3.06 Ghz
512 MB
the cd is:
LG HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4241N (CDRW/DVD combo)

any help will be appreciated!

Cooker is actually 10.1, if you look at your dmesg.

Did you get the drive to recognize?

I had the same problem on my Hp laptop with Mandrake 9.2 and 10 both installed and run fine on 9.0 and after trying everything I could find to read to do, I went and downloaded Slackware 10 and have had no problems at all sence.
