Cant connect on HDMI on DELL inspiron n5010 to Samsung LCD

Hi,
I'm relatively new to this. I'm running Redhat 5.1 on Dell inspiron n5010.

I have connected my HDMI cable to the HDMI slots on both my laptop and Samsung LCD. When I choose the HDMI menu on my TV, it says no signal, even if I press the CTL+ALT+FN+F8 on my laptop, it just shows a blank screen on the laptop.

Anyone with an idea?

A few things are going on. You may have to turn off everything connect or connect and power off or power up and then connect. Really weird how this stuff seems to work.

One thing also is the output. You'd have to be sure that hdmi is selected in the RH or driver and not use the hot keys would be my guess.

Thanks Jethro,

Do we have specific RH drivers for HDMI?

Regards

For starters I'd dump the RH and go with some media type of distro. While you can get RH to work it may take much more tweaking than a different distro. Try some live cd's and see how they work. They might ask to download non-open sourced drivers by default to help.
