Cannot install openSUSE 11.1 on Acer Aspire One "missing repositories".

Well, I have downloaded openSUSE 11.1 source to my laptop. I copied both (source-path)/boot/i386/loader/initrd and (source-path)/boot/i386/loader/linux to /boot/inst-linux and /boot/inst-initrd. Set up /boot/grub/menu.lst , I reboot, choose the selection made before, and get to a familiar blue screen. I select "install or update" then "hard disk" then "dev/sda1" then type the source path and the installation begins. (not the YAST) 1/6 everything good. 2/6 ok. 3/6 never starts. Only an annoying "missing repositories" dialog. What havent I done? Any ideas? Edit:Forgot to mention, (source-path)/suse and (source-path)/media.1 are intact. How can I inform it that they exist.

I got same problem ,if i had n't placed my DVD of SUSE 11.1 in CD/DVD drive. Basically it needs some repositories from DVD . That's why it is asking media. Better put your DVD into drive and check !!

Forgot to mention that Acer Aspire One doesnt have a dvd reader. Its a pity to buy an external just for an install. Ithink that the repositories are in (source-path)/suse/i586 or */i686 or */noarch. I have them, now what. I have tried to tell it where they are, where the source is, but no, it wont work. What I will try: Install Opensuse11.1 to my 8.0gig flash with Unetbootin, copy the source in a new folder there, and try locating again, but first, I will flash my BIOS, it doesnt bootup. Thats pure bad luck.

I'm not familar with Suse but doesn't it offer online repositories?

Well, using Debian I was able to install it and download/update from online, once I got the wifi working.

check the links in my sig for a how to install Suse on the Acer Aspire One

Quote:

* Acer Aspire One
* A fairly new USB flash drive with at least 128 MB capacity.
* Good Internet connection via Ethernet. Different setups are supported - DHCP (typical setup for networks and cable modems), NAT or local LAN+proxy (in the latter case you will need to specify IP-address of the mirror - see [1] for mirror list; when asked for path enter /pub/opensuse/distribution/11.1/repo/oss)

Media

You will need the oenSUSE 11.1 NetInstall ISO Image, or select it from the openSUSE Download options.

I dont know how, but I did it. I used my 8gig flash, formatrted it with fat32, and I copied the source to it. Booted from it, and after a few praying, YaST started. Thanks for the help anyway. Edit: I just realised what how stupid I can be, heres what I have done: I copied the 11.1 dvd to an .iso image in my computer. But I already had opensuse 11.0 in my pc. I accidentally named the 11.1 iso "opensuse11.0" so I thought that I had only one file named "opensuse11.0" in my pc. So I actually was trying to install 11.0 from 11.1 netinstall. (Am I dumb???)
