I have a problem with my pcmcia card which I posted here (please replace _ with . as I cannot post urls for now)

As advised on that forum I decided to rebuild the kernel. I downloaded the source tarball for linux-2.6.7. Following the instructions, I reached the point of configuring the kernel using xconfig, for the section of plug and play support, the section was empty. Upon selecting "View all options", options appeared for this section but they were all greyed out.

Why is this, is there another option that I have to enable to ungrey this plug and play.I think this option is vital to my solution
