Hello, as you can probably tell by the heading I a fairly new to linux. I have installed Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.1 on a HP nc6120 notebook. I am trying to make this NISPOM compliant and have to configure the bios not to boot from CDROM unfortunately I cannot access the setup utility or boot device during power on. It does display the option to press the F9 and F10 keys to access but it does not respond when I press either. Anyone have suggestions?
It's not locked and I do have the password. It does not respond when I hit f9 or f10 to enter the system bios. I am trying to get to the bios to disable booting from CD.
What happens when you press 'ctrl-S' at the POST? This will stop the POST if you pass in time and you can issue a 'ctrl-Q' to resume. I'm wondering if there is any keyboard response.
If you do have the machine BIOS password protected the BIOS should still be able to enter it, just not able to configure.
