Can someone please help me :(

I just got my new inspiron 5100 and am having a hell of a time getting the Xconfigurator to set up my video card properlt. It auto probes a radeon mobility m6 LW card but I know it has the Radeon 7500 mobility (32 bit)...I am using Linux 7.2 distro and when i type startx i just get a blank black screen...hmmm...i have tried repeatedly to use the Xconfig tool to no avail. Does anyone know a good setup or monitor type to input into Xconfigurator that works on the Dell 5100?

go with the generic video card, it may work. but it would be better if you can get your hands on a new version of the distro. it will have the support for your card. or else you can search for a driver and then you and install the module.

I have installed Mandrake 9.1 on a inspiron 5100 and the only problem I have is the modem.

The video card works with 3d Acceletation. Download or find a copy of Mandrake 9.1 (I liked better than 9.2) and it is an easy installation
