Thumbs up Happened to me aswell..

This happened to me aswell when i tried installing debian linux on my laptop. The problem i had was a blue screen on startup that said it couldnt start something or another. To fix it i booted into linux and opened up a partitioning programme...im sorry i dont remember the name..but you should be able to use any programme. All i had to do then was change the file system of the winxp partition from NTFS HIDDEN to NTFS then rebooted and it was fine. For some reason during instalation the winxp partition had been made invisible so when it tried booting it couldnt find its files and screwed up. Good Luck.

You can do the same thing with partitionmagic. A linux partition program (must, obviously, be run as root) that I have used successfully in the past is cfdisk.
