broken sound card in a sony vaio pcg-frv25

My sound card has randomly stopped working, even in Windows. All my drivers are correct, and I even tried a reformat to help rectify the problem. Still no luck. Could it be a blown sound card?

Yes. If the vaio is new, you can get it replaced.
