Brightness control on Ideapad u350

I recently bought an Ideapad u350 and have installed Ubuntu 9.10 on it. Everything works out of the box, except for brightness control. I have tried Fedora 11 and Ubuntu 9.10 Alpha 3, and neither have working brightness control in any way (fn keys, applets...). I can set the brightness while the laptop is booting up, but after linux loads, it's stuck. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Ben

I had a Lenovo SL500 which I'm told has the same issues the Ideapads do. I solved my issues by installing the 2.6.30 kernel images.

this worked on my u350:

so this seems to work on different ideapad models.
