Bought New Laptop...
I bought a new laptop and just want to make sure everything is going to work under linux. I plan on running Linux Mint 10. I heard about some issues on my gfx card but haven't seen any for sure fixes, but not sure if it has been corrected yet or not. Anyways, here are the specs.
HP G62t CTO Intel i3 (2.53ghz) 4gb RAM 320gb 7200rpm Hard Drive ATI Radeon HD 5470 (512mb dedicated) 15.6" LED Webcam 5-1 Card Reader Wireless N (hope that means its b/g too. lol) So yea, just want to make sure everything is going to run smooth as pie, like Windows 7 is supposed to. lol My old laptop finally died, so I'm making a leap in terms of speed and features on this thing. I'm going to be dual-booting this one with 7 on the other partition, mainly booting to Mint. Just keeping 7 for gaming, basically. Thanks in advance. |

It detected everything in the first place, from web cam to graphics card and its really stable :D You must try it first, see if everything works in your case too. good luck and congratulations. :) |
Thanks. Glad to hear everything worked for ya. Im mostly worried about the gfx card considering all the negative posts ive seen about it. I'm sure everything else will be fine tho. Im def gonna miss my old laptop (acer travelmate 2450) lol the specs were horrid compared to this one, but it was my baby. Lol hopefully this new one is a beat like my acer. I've heard alot of good things about this laptop, so hopefully its all true. Its being built on the 17th and should be here a week after. Can't wait! :-)
