booting knoppix on a creative zen vision w

has anyone seen this article:
http://www.anythingbutipod.com/archi...en-visionm.php

i am wondering, like the conversation says, if this is usb-booting a pc (like knoppix live-cd) or if you can boot linux on a creative zen without connecting it to a pc.

does anyone have any experience with this ?

i am curious to hear your ideas,
thanks,

I believe the link mentions using Zen to backup a Linux system. Zen is just an external hard drive and the MP3 collection can hardy fill all the space. Thus it is possible to use it as an external USB hard drive and install USB based distros there.

Never tried it on a Zen but an external had disk only works with a PC attached to because Zen has no key board or vga screen to operate alone as a Linux system.

The guide refers to booting a PC using the Zen as an external drive and not the Zen itself running linux. Not to say that linux is not or can not run on the Zen. From a quick search (so this isn't gospel) it seems the Zen uses a TI DSP chip which appears to have a linux port.

Not trying to be picky or anything but there are appliance devices (embedded) that do run linux without a standard keyboard or monitor. TiVo is one example.
