I am trying to create a bootable USB drive with the end goal of putting Puppeee on my Eeepc, but I can't get it to boot from the USB.
I suspect the problem is with the USB drive, since I can get to the menu to choose to boot from the USB, but the Eeepc boots like normal from the SSD instead every time. I tried booting from the USB on my desktop (Debian) as well, and had the same problem.
To create the bootable USB, I used
Code:
dd if=Puppee[...].iso of=/dev/sdb
and the USB was not mounted at the time.
When I tried
to see if the USB was working and bootable, I got this:
Code:
Disk /dev/sdb: 2003 MB, 2003828736 bytes
62 heads, 62 sectors/track, 1018 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 3844 * 512 = 1968128 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x00000000
Disk /dev/sdb doesn't contain a valid partition table
So I can't see if it's bootable according to the table, and I'm not sure how to interpret this.
Any suggestions?
