Bluetooth / Blueman problem on Acer c720 running sid kernel 3.16

Hi all,

Have just reinstalled debian sid/xfce4 on my acer c720. The kernel has been revised since I last did this install, and the new version is 3.16 (up from 3.13 last time). Bluetooth appears to have changed.

Previously, the Blueman gui was installed but atheros-firmware was missing.

Now, Blueman is not installed but (maybe) there is now firmware support via firmware-linux-free.

So I installed Blueman. Whilst it ran immediately after install (no reboot), bluetooth was not functioning. The machine then wouldn't reboot properly - it eventually comes to text login. (Have done this twice, with same result. The first time also installed atheros-firmware, the second time only Blueman. So this problem is related to Blueman).

Does anyone know what has been changed? If Blueman is no longer the gui to use, what is?

Thanks in advance...

Andrew.

False alarm!

The same thing happened (machine fails to boot properly) on a fresh reinstall, where Blueman had not been installed.

I did yet another fresh reinstall, installed Blueman and rebooted successfully (twice). Bluetooth no good, so installed atheros-firmware and rebooted and yes, all bluetooth functions are good.

There were a few changes made to sid between the last two installs and used:

apt-get -f dist-upgrade

instead of:

apt-get dist-upgrade.

In other words, I have no idea what was going on with this!
