Unhappy Black Screen after the boot menu

Hi,
I have a SAMSUNG laptop with INTEL core i3 processor & 4 gb of RAM. I already have WINDOWS 7 installed on my computer. I installed LINUX as a second OS. The installation was successfull. However, when i start my pc through LINUX the screen gets BLACK (backlight switches off) after the boot menu. I can't see my desktop of linux. My windows 7 works perfectly fine.
Please help to fix the issue.

First; which Linux system have you installed?
Second; it is probably an issue with the video driver, but before anything definitive can be stated, information concerning which system you have and which driver your computer has will be needed.

Try to pass 'nomodeset' parameter to kernel...
For example: vmlinuz-generic-3.0.0 root=/dev/sda1 ro nomodeset (string might look like this, remove 'vga' from string if there is).
