BIOS suspend partition

In the process of trying to get my trusty old Vaio (PCG 505-TR) up to a new distro (it'd been languishing on SuSE 6.2) I've gone and deleted the BIOS suspend partition. What a muppet, eh? Yes, it was late, and yes, I just pressed "OK" - what a muppet, as I said.

Anyway, I'm trying to get it back, but so far to no avail. Setting up an 0xA0 partition of the right size in YaST is easy, but whether it's at the start or end of the disk, the BIOS just beeps and ignores it. I've also tried lphdisk to format the partition properly - but whatever I do, the BIOS doesn't like it.

Does anyone have any pointers? I suppose if I had restore CDs, I could go back to the original setup with Win98 and suspend partition, and then go reinstall linux - but I don't have those either. Alternatively, if someone has a similar laptop, some info on their partition table might help me.

Please save my 505 from being deskbound ;)
