Best Distro for Gateway m-7315u

So I acquired a laptop from a friend for $65. It's a gateway M-7315u (manufactured 09/04/2008) with a switch on the side for the wifi, sd card reader, ethernet jack (not that that will get used much). The battery is, the previous owner told me, definitely broken. So it will be plugged in all the time.

Here's the specs that matter:

Code:

Graphics Controller Manufacturer        Intel
Graphics Memory Technology        DDR2 SDRAM
Graphics Memory Accessibility        Shared

Code:

Standard Memory        4 GB
Maximum Memory        4 GB
Memory Technology        DDR2 SDRAM
Memory Standard        DDR2-667/PC2-5300
Number of Total Memory Slots        2
Memory Card Reader        Yes

Code:

Processor Manufacturer        Intel
Processor Type        Pentium
Processor Model        T3200
Processor Speed        2 GHz
Processor Core        Dual-core (2 Core)
Cache        1 MB
Bus Speed        667 MHz

It's 64bit. it also comes with a working webcam, built in mic, and it has lit up touch buttons for the volume, play, stop, etc.

I just need to find a distro. I was thinking ElementaryOS. I'm an 'intermediate' user of Linux. i know how to apt-get install things, and how to do updates through the terminal but I'm still not perfect at doing everything.

The only thing I do is write, roleplay with friends (D&D online FTW), chat on IM and browser the net. I don't do very intensive games, etc. I also watch twit.tv and other like minded podcast groups and chat in their chatrooms

So thanks and if this is the wrong area, I apologize in advance.

If you want something close to Elementary OS but a little more easier to customize.
Give Linux-Lite a look see.
I run the 32 bit iso on my Dell XT2 Touchscreen Netbook and the stock kernel. My touchscreen worked out of the box.
sees all 5gig of my ram.

It fits on a CD also. Small Download. Runs XFCE. Should work just fine on that Gateway.

Run it on my desktop actually.

KDE's working just fine at the moment (friend put an illegal version of Windows on the gateway so I had to get it off ASAP)

I'll check it out but I usually prefer GNOME or something similar.

Thank you for your suggestion though!
