Best distribution for battery usage


which one linux distro is actually the best one for person who want enjoy long battery life? My battery is 4700Mah and I have drr3 ram and dual core pentium cpu so I wonder which one distribution will be LITERALLY the best one, macs have optimized os to it's specifications but still...

something lite, like something openbox-y (crunchbang?)
no compositing
no conky and things like that
powertop
hibernation when useful

in the end firefox will eat the most

you really telling me to install dead distro? o_0 just wow... there's something newer? c'mon! I can't believe I will have buying powerbank for windows or buying ultrabook...

Welcome aboard.

A light distro is going to use less resources, therefore, presumably, use less power.

(So, take a look at the likes of AntiX, TinyCore, or SliTaz.)

it's an interesting question. i had to set it up myself, but maybe there is a distro out there dedicated to that?
distrowatch has a netbook category, maybe that helps...

oh, @genss: my heartfelt sympathies!

there is, btw, also bunsenlabs, which, i heard, is much more stable then the term "alpha" suggests.
