Battery Test
I have an NEC Ready 120LT notebook I got for free a couple months back for helping fix someone's computer. I have vector linux running on this little notebook and I want know if anyone knows of a battery test or bechmark for it like batterymark for windows. I'm guessingthat it probably only has about 30 minutes of juice in it but i want to know for sure.
One other thing. Does anyone have or know of a good USB PC Card that is Linux friendly. I need a way to back up my documents and i have a USB thumb drive I've been using to save my documents on the family pc so I figure I should just use it all around. And if there are any concerns on whether it will work in linux it works fine in Knoppix, Fedora Core 2 and Debian. |
type apm in the console....it'll tell you the battery life

i have seen usb pc cards, unfortunatly they were cardbus cards (32bit pcmcia), and older laptops are 16bit pcmcia. they look the same but you can't use (or fit) a cardbus card in the older 16bit slot.
the best i have found is this http://www.ratocsystems.com/english/...ges/cfu1u.html use with a compact flash to pcmcia adapter of course the only other thing i wonder about is does it require drivers ? |
I think a 32-bit card will work because I bought a PC Network Card that worked until the little cord that provides the ethernet port broke.
