Battery problem

I have a Thinkpad T500 with a dual boot of Ubuntu 10.04 and Windows XP. I am confused. The battery meter on the Ubuntu side says 100% charged while it only says 40 minutes left. When I am on the Windows partition, the battery meter says 35% and 40 minutes left. I usually do not have a problem with Linux and the battery. Any ideas as to why there would be a discrepancy as significant as this?

Hello fellow Masshole, I'd go with easy first, with Ubuntu up and running pull the battery for a few, put it back in see if it corrects itself. If not run it down and charge back up with Ubuntu running. The percentage should be about the same in both systems but the time estimate will be different as Windows eats batteries faster (for me at least). Mine is sometimes off, but usually consistent with both Linux & Win a total discharge and recharge usually does it for me.
