Alright, i've got a toshiba satellite L45-S7409, and ive got everything almost completly set up. But for some reason after setting up the battery meter it only shows up on my root kde desktop, it won't show up on my user one. I've tried everything i can think of and im fairly new w/ linux so that isn't very much. any help would be appriciated. running slack12

I have the same laptop. I've just installed kubuntu 7.10 and battery meter ("powermanager") is working fine. (it also worked in kubuntu 6.04).

Since you are running slack id you mark the box in Power control telling it to show? As the user you should be able to click on Start, Setting, PowerControl, Laptop Battery to bring the setting up.
