Battery Health Utility for Linux?

Sony Vaio machines come with a utility that allows you to prevent the battery from charging past 80%(in order to maximize service life) Does anyone know of a tool that would allow me to do this in linux? It's on a Sony Vaio CW series.

I am not sure about Sony but my IBM laptop (in 2.4 kernels) had this facility by ibm-acpi. I think the SMBUS controller must be exporting these ioctls. So, all you need is to wait painfuly until someone writes the driver for sony or you can take ibm-acpi from thinkwiki and get the code and port it as the sony acpi driver.
