backup MBR and FIXMBR

Greeting All;

Can any one tell me how can I backup my IBM Thinkpad window MBR to CD, also, where can I find the window FIXMBR command, because, when my IBM thinkpad arrived it only comes with the IBM recovery CD that does NOT contains the FIXMBR command. Where can I get a copy of the FIXMBR?

the command

dd if=/dev/hda of=/home/user/MBRBACKUP bs=512 count=1

i could be wrong, but this backs up the first 512 bytes of data (the MBR of hda) to a MBRBACKUP file

as for the fixmbr command, borrow an xp cd off a friend

use the recovery CD and choose "repair", then at prompt try "fixboot" or "fixmbr"

create a system rescue floppy, highlight "A:\" in my computer then then right click, create system disk.
