ati radeon 9700 mobility and suse 9.1 pro

I am new to linux. I need to update my drivers for my ATI Radeon 9700 mobility on my dell inspirion 9100 laptop. I am doing a dual boot with Suse 9.1 pro and Windows XP. Basically my resolution is at 640x480 and it really sux. any help would be great.

ps. I am really only able to do stuff in command line i am brand new to x.

I don't know about your video card specificaly, but you should probably start by looking at YaST (yet another setup tool). It acts like a "control panel" for SuSE. Click on the green lizard in the lower left hand corner, and then the system menu. You mention that you can only do things in the comand line. If you cannot get KDE running, then log in as root and type yast. It's not as easy to use, but everything the graphical part has should be there.

There's aother thread with a similar problem here. As far as i can tell, you should be able to get the vesa drivers running... but it'll be rather tricky to get the 3d support...
