ATI Radeon 9000 3D Acceleration on Suse 9.0

Hi everyone!

the topic says the main pat of it, if it sounds like something you might be able to help and give advice on, please, keep reading

i installed SuSE 9.0 on my fujistsu/siemens amilo D 8830 with no problems, and spent the last few days tweaking it to coexist with win2k. for the most part it went smooth, but i dont seem to be able to turn on the 3d acceleration for my Mobility Radeon 9000.

I tried both tha gatos ati.2 and the ati proprietary linux driver, and i can't enable the 3d acceleration with any of them. the gatos tests it, says it cant run 3d, keeps the settings. the ati driver just makes the screen go blank and the computer stops responding (cant even kill the server with the keyboard shortcut)

suggestions, please?

Aha! It's just as i've suspected all along. Your graphics accelerator is unsolvable!

Hello, i have exactly the same problem.
ATI 9000 Mobility in SuSE Linux 9.2. Of course if i am going to use the driver for ATI 9000 it will work perfectly, BUT my laptop will be overheating all the time. So i use the ATI 9600 Mobility Driver, but the problem is that i can not play 3D game for over 25 Minutes!!! Has anybody found any solution?
