ATI Radeon 200M proprietary driver will not execute

I have downloaded the proprietary driver package from ATI's website. But when I try execute the command via their instructions I get, "Cannot open file".

I've also tried to extract the contents of the file using other instructions I've found in the forums. But those don't seem to work either.

I'm running Ubuntu 9.1 on an MSI 1013 laptop
Turion 64 processor
2GB Ram
Radeon Xpress 200m

You don't want the proprietary driver, particularly if you are using Ubuntu 9.10. The last version of the driver that support your GPU was from March of 2009, so you'd have to use a pretty old distribution if you need to use the proprietary driver. The open source driver, however, supports 2D and 3D acceleration.

Hmm, when I was looking for a solution I read that the open source driver didn't support 3d acceleration yet. Must have been older posts.

Thank you. I'll look up how to install that driver instead.
