ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 Drivers for a Dell 600m...

Hey guys, I'm not too worried about my gfx card because I'm not a hardcore gamer, but since no one seems to know the answer to this ATI mobility problem, except for buying their next laptop with nvidia, I'm wondering if I've found the solution at Dell's FTP site.

*N/M...the link was for a 128mb video card.*

Also, are people using the desktop drivers with success (is there any difference)? Thanks ahead!

Hi,

What problem are you having with your graphics card? I have the same video card on the same laptop, it runs just fine with the M9 driver that came with Fedora. Even unreal tournament works well.

I haven't even tried it out. :D I just saw the other threads with Mobility Radeon problems and decided to ask ahead! No worries then, thanks!

I was wondering, do you have TV out on your card? I have a Radeon Mobility 9000 too, but in a WinBook J4. I think I want to start using Linux, maybe Fedora, but I need the TV out to work, and ATI doesn't have Linux drivers for notebooks.

Also, if you do have TV out, and it does work, can this be done with any window manager? I want something light, like fluxbox, but be able to use the video out for movies and photographs on the TV.

Thanks!

I'm almost positive it's possible (and I think mine is an S-VIDEO out...but I don't use it). I believe there is an ATI TV-OUT option in the 2.6.11 kernel as well. Hope that helps (I'd check Google for more complete answers).

Cheers,
Galen
